CapPicks (“we”, “us”) operates cappicks.com. This policy explains what data we collect when you visit, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Analytics data. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which guides are read and how visitors arrive. This records pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and referring site. IP addresses are anonymized. Google’s privacy policy applies to this processing.
- Comments. If you leave a comment we store the name, email and website you enter, the comment text, and your IP address and browser user-agent string to help detect spam.
- Newsletter. If you subscribe, we store your email address until you unsubscribe. Every email contains an unsubscribe link.
- Contact form. Messages sent through the Contact page are stored so we can reply, and deleted within 12 months.
Cookies
We set cookies for analytics (Google Analytics), for remembering a comment author’s details, and for caching that makes pages load faster. Third parties may set cookies when you click an outbound link. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site works without them.
Affiliate links
CapPicks is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. Links to Amazon on this site are affiliate links; when you click one and make a purchase, Amazon may set cookies on your device to attribute the sale and we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. We do not receive any personal information about you from Amazon. See our Affiliate Disclosure.
Embedded content and third parties
Guides may embed content from other sites (for example product images served by Amazon or videos from YouTube). Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited that site and may collect data about you under that site’s own policy.
How long we keep data
Analytics data is retained for 14 months. Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so follow-ups can be recognized. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe.
Your rights
You can ask us for an export of the personal data we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by writing to the address on the Contact page. This does not include data we must keep for security or legal reasons. If you are in the EU, UK or California, you also have the rights set out in GDPR, UK GDPR and CCPA respectively; we do not sell personal information.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We will post any changes to this policy on this page and update the date at the top.
