This policy explains how Cap Picks decides what to publish, how we keep recommendations independent, and what we do when we get something wrong.
Independence
Product rankings are decided by the criteria on our How We Pick page and nothing else. Affiliate commission rates, advertiser relationships, and brand outreach have no bearing on which products appear in a guide or where they rank. We do not sell placements, “sponsored picks”, or guaranteed coverage.
Affiliate links
Cap Picks earns commissions through the Amazon Associates program and, occasionally, other affiliate programs. Every article that contains affiliate links carries a disclosure at the top, and our affiliate disclosure explains the arrangement in full. A product with a higher commission does not rank higher. Where the best product under a cap is sold somewhere we have no affiliate relationship, we recommend it anyway.
Free products and samples
We do not accept free products, loans, or payment from manufacturers in exchange for coverage. If a brand sends an unsolicited sample, we say so in the article and it does not change the evaluation.
Accuracy and sourcing
Specifications are checked against the manufacturer’s own documentation where it exists. Claims about health, safety, or performance are linked to their source. Prices are quoted as of the date shown on the article and may change; the product boxes on each page pull current prices from Amazon.
Corrections
If we publish an error, we fix it in the article and note the correction at the bottom of the page. To report an error, use the contact page. We aim to respond within five business days.
Updates
Every guide is reviewed at least every 90 days for availability, price against the cap, and new products. The “Updated” date on each article reflects the most recent substantive review, not a cosmetic change.
Use of AI tools
We use software, including AI tools, to help organize research, draft structure, and check for consistency. Every published guide is reviewed and approved by a named editor (Sam Carter), who is responsible for its accuracy. Product picks are never generated automatically.
Topics we avoid
We do not publish guides on prescription medication, products that make medical treatment claims, firearms, or adult products. Where a wellness topic borders on medical advice, the guide tells you when to consult a professional instead of buying a product.
